Model-Ex 2006

Another successful model exhibition has come and gone with over 2000 models of all types on show. These were built by our 100 plus exhibitors representing 15 clubs and individual entries. The class of models on show were excellent across the age and experience of the modellers involved. Approx £1400 from entry fees and school snack bar was raised for the Raunds Windmill School Association and £250 for the Northants Model Makers from the tombola and club stand. We had about 1500 visitors through the door and the general feedback is that it was a well planned and executed event.

We had boat demonstrations on the pool, Tank demonstrations all over the school, Nitro racers, trucks and hovercrafts on the playground and amazingly a demo of a plane flying like a helicopter in the hall. Seven railway layouts were running all through the day. That well known (well in modelling circles anyway) author and demon of the airbrush Ian Peacock gave some excellent demos of using these tools of his trade.  Our thanks go to all those exhibitors form all parts of the country who risked damaging their models by packing them up and bringing them along to show us their expertise in their field. My personal thank go to all those helpers and volunteers who made the show such a success.

Roll on next year. Bob H, Chairman.
